Botica Looks Forward

New signing Jacob Botica has been impressed by his surroundings after a whirlwind couple of weeks that has seen him land in north Wales

The 23 year old had a chat with RGC news after he made his debut against Newport Gwent Dragons last Friday.

The fly-half born in Wigan, came through the North Harbour academy system in New Zealand. He played for the North Shore club before spending last season at Agen.

“I have played in some good crowds in France, so I was delighted to see that over 1,200 turned up at Eirias for the game.  The boys helped me during the game with the calls, as my first week here has been pretty hectic but it was great to get on the field”

The 23 year old is son of former Wigan star Frano, and it was that link that set him on his way to Colwyn Bay.   “My dad played with Joe Lydon so the approach was made, and it was actually my mother who told my about it and jumped at the chance. Two days later I landed in Colwyn Bay, so it has been a busy week or so!”

Over the past couple of years RGC have had fly-half’s who have lit up the Eirias pitch, so Botica will follow in the footsteps of Rhodri Carlton-Jones, Lewis Barker and recently departed James Lang who has joined Harlequins “It is a great opportunity for me, and I am looking to help cement RGC as Premiership side.  The facilities at Eirias are superb and some of the best I have seen, and the whole team is looking to get set for the start of the season in September”
