One Off Games Continue

Huw Worthington knows another tough game awaits this Saturday as RGC head to the Wern to take on Merthyr in the Principality Premiership Semi- Final.

It has been one game at a time for most of the season, as RGC headed into the unknown of the Premiership and they have focused on that mind-set even more since April

“Really every game we have prepared for in the past few weeks have been “cup finals” or one off games in our minds. Since Ebbw Vale it has been a case of if we lost then the chance of winning the league is gone, and it is no different this Saturday.”

“We know what is needed in regards to preparation, and the importance of making sure we are in the best place physically and mentally come 2.30pm. Looking at where we have come from this season we have exceeded expectations and all we can do is focus on our performance for another 80 minutes.”

RGC defeated Pontypridd last weekend and two try centre Tiaan Loots will be looking to carry on that form against the Ironmen.

“Merthyr finished top at of the Tier 1 split, so it will be another tough challenge for us to go back to their place, so to get anything we need to hit our best performance levels.  Both sides know each other well, and I am sure Merthyr will be looking to prove a point or two based on the past results in the league and the cup semi-final.  Hopefully we can bring a good crowd down as well. Against Pontyridd the support was again amazing and it does make a difference to the players”
