Loots - Performing Under Pressure

RGC head to Pontypridd on Saturday for another one of those "landmark" days, as they play in their first WRU National Cup Semi-Final, when they take on Merthyr (5pm kick off)

After the last gasp winner against Llandovery in the previous round, RGC get set to face a team they know well.

They have already played Merthyr twice this season, and in both games RGC have come out on top in dramatic fashion. The memory of the Jacob Botica wiining penalty is etched on every supporters mind.

That said Merthyr are the form side coming off the back of a huge leage win against Llandovery, and the players and coaching staff will want to make sure they don't lose again to RGC.

Of course it is a one off game, and 80 minutes of rugby to get to the Principality Stadium.

Tiaan Loots is one of the players who have been central to the RGC journey over the past few years, and all roads lead to Sardis on Saturday. The centre has played in a few big pressure games certainly help us focus more.  Knowing that we can perform under pressure in big games does help.  Looking back to last season we had a number of games played with huge pressure.  As a squad we want to carry on performing at the highest level"

Fellow Centre Tom Hughes has been part of many big RGC games and Saturday will be another to add to the list " I think even though we have beaten them twice already they have been very close games both home and away. We are heading into the fixture at Sardis Road as underdogs, and it is another huge game for both sides with the chance of getting to the final and an appearance at the Principality Stadium"
